Boot-shaped and running north to south with both warm and cool water beaches, Dennis is where Henry Hall first cultivated cranberries in 1816, when he noticed that wild cranberries grew well when covered by blowing sand. His experimentation with this technique led to the first significant cultivation of the popular berry that is such a big part of the Cape Cod identity today.
